Sprint Knock Out race
The 3km Knockout Sprint is a new format. It consists of three rounds of swimming in the open water, with the slower swimmers eliminated after each round.

Distances
- First Round is 1.5 km in distance.
- Second Round is 1.0 km in distance.
- Final Round is 0.5 km in distance.
Regulations
For the 3 km Knockout Sprint (both genders: male and female):
1. Men’s and women’s events will be held separately.
2. Round 1 will be divided into two or more heats. Athletes in each heat will be assigned randomly.
3. Each competitor will swim 1500 m in Round 1. Competitors who qualify for Round 2 (semi final) will swim 1000 m, and those who qualify for Round 3 (final) will swim 500 m.
4. The starting order for Rounds 2 and 3 will be determined by the results of the previous round, with the fastest times being presented first.
5. The eight (8) fastest times from each heat in Round 1 will advance to Round 2 (semi final).
6. The eight (8) fastest times from Round 2 will advance to Round 3 (final).
7. The top three finishers in Round 3 will receive gold, silver, and bronze medals.
8. If a competitor receives a first infringement during Rounds 1 or 2, the penalty will remain in effect if they advance to subsequent rounds.
9. In the event of a disqualification or withdrawal in Rounds 2 or 3, the position that would have corresponded to the competitor will be awarded to the next best-classified athlete, and all lower-ranked competitors will move up one place in the semifinal or final, as applicable.
